Market Research

A mistake made by many new entrepreneurs is not doing an adequate amount of market research before taking the plunge into their own business.  Market research gives you a view of the playing field you are stepping onto, who the players are, and the “rules” of the game.  Without accurate information about your target market, your competition, and the changing market dynamics, you will be operating in a react mode instead of the competitively advantageous proactive mode.

Market research does not have to be an elaborate study about every little intricate detail related to your business and the marketplace.  What is needed are some of the key indicators.  There are several methods that can be used to gather this information, assess the relevance, and apply the information to your business plan.

Every business is different and the approach to market research will differ in each circumstance.  Of course there are disciplines that will apply in all cases, but time and effort can be minimized by understanding what it is that you want the market research to tell you.

I can assist in establishing your initial approach to market research and in developing an ongoing program that will keep your information current.
